The barrier is a ,permeable, subsurface ,wall, composed of granular ,iron,, installed in a 46 mlong, 7.3 m deep and 0.6 mwide trench oriented perpendicular to the direction of ground-water flow (Blowes etal., 2000). The mass of Peerless™ granular ,iron, deposited into the trench (280 tons) was less than the design estimate of 450 tons.
